Despite Snow, FGLC Steak Dinner Fundraiser’s a Success!
Over 200 brave, hardy souls came out on Tuesday, March 2, despite the
snowy, messy weather and it resulted in a resounding success for Fair
Grove Lions Club’s annual fundraiser. Even Lion District Governor Theresa
Matthews ventured into town to join us! We greatly appreciate her tireless
All 140 tickets were sold and special thanks go to David Lambeth for his
efforts to ensure that the event was sold out! And thanks to all the FGLC
members who did your part to secure door prizes, sell tickets for the
event, prepare food and get everything set up before and cleaned up after.
President Patricia Carroll did a great job of emceeing the event and
activities, especially in light of the weather, and moving things along to
ensure everyone was able to get on the road as early as possible and home
safely. This was definitely a great team effort that could not have been
accomplished without everyone chipping in and doing your part!
The $1500 grand prize was split between three winners and it was rumored
that one intends to donate their prize to the Honor Flight organization
which sponsors veterans to travel to Washington, D.C. to see the WWII
memorial that was erected in their honor. While expenses are yet to be
tallied and the total funds raised finalized, we do know that we exceeded
our auction sales over last year by about $300! Stay tuned for the final
The Give Away is a fundraising winter project
where 140 tickets are sold for $60 each. A ticket buys dinner for
two and a chance to win $1500. Most tickets win a door prize and the meal
includes steak, potato, salad, bread, tea, and cake. The event this year
was at the Memorial United Methodist Church Enrichment Center in
Thomasville on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 6:30PM
